Started by an ex-TV network marketing executive turned work-at-home mom turned self-taught furniture designer/builder Kiersten Hathcock. After leaving the corporate world in 2003 to spend more time with her kids (then 1 and 5), Kiersten rekindled a passion for woodworking during those rare moments when she had a minute to herself.

Kiersten was always inspired by her father, a self-taught carpenter and woodworker, who built most of their furniture when she was growing up in Ohio. Thirty-some years later, she has her own garage workshop where she designs and produces modern/mid-century style kids' furniture. She is armed with a design eye, ten years of motherhood experience, a love for the smell of cut wood!

Kiersten's pieces are inspired by the mid-century style and her own kids' wants and needs. She only uses eco- friendly birch plywood, non-toxic paints, water-based stains and low-voc, water-based finishes in the Mod Mom Furniture pieces.
